Is it time for Cloud in a medium sized company?

With the responsibility of a mailserver, a intranet site, and some virtual pc’s for remote vpn access, backups have become more difficult without downtime. And the mailserver is getting more demanding.

Why not put it all in a cloud with enough cheap nodes for redundancy is backup then relevant?

I know there is more to it, but its an interesting thought.
Its not that hard making a private cloud, its not necessary to use Amazon or another cloud provider.
All it takes are some cheap VT threading servers.

I haven’t figured out what would happen if the controller server crash, and how easily it could be stored?

If anyone out there have some inputs for a Cloud project, you’re welcome to comment.

There is a nice tutorial here:

And some of the questions mentioned above, I’m trying to get answers here:

HP V1910-48G

Just got the D-link 1248T switch replaced with a new HP V1910-48G (3com baseline) switch at work. And wow it’s in a total different league. It’s only half bit more expensive but the features sure makes up for those extra cash.
The syslog monitors short down/up-links, so I can actually use this for detecting physical errors in the cables.

New Private site up and running (took 5 min)

My old VallentinGraphics site which actually was my “business” window to the world has now been replaced by my new private “just for fun” site. Why, well I closed my 3d-firm, since I lost interest i making 3d for money and wherefore never got to make it a living.
Secondly because my CMS got hacked and used as some sort of a proxy, so I was forced to do something.

The result my new and easy to use wordpress page. Nothing fancy, but I must at least make a new header in the near future.

So what can you expect of my new just for fun webpage?

Well, I will properly tell all about the stuff (IT related projects) I stumble on during work, because I’m a sys admin in a little auto dealer shop, with 35 users and even though thats sound as a simple job, I manage to have a lot to do every day.
Else I’ll properly will try to advocate for Linux and specially Ubuntu, I love it. Now you have been warned.

Oh and at the moment I’m recontruction my home, an old 1967, typical danish suburbian style house, and here in Denmark we are very interested in how to save money on energy and I have some thoughs on that too.

I dont know if this site is gonna be in english or danish so for now I start international and then w’ill see.
